Marie Curie Research Institute

Shift in research emphasis and partnership opportunities in fundamental research

Motors
In March 2009, Marie Curie Cancer Care announced plans for a significant shift in the balance of its research portfolio.

The charity is proud of its fundamental research activities and the Marie Curie Research Institute.  However going forward MCCC intends to invest more in end-of life research and place less emphasis on fundamental scientific research.

As part of this new focus the charity will be supporting the transition of its fundamental research and be providing funding for MCRI scientists to enable the continuation of its scientific research in UK universities or research institutes.

Potential partner organisations were invited to contact the charity to explore opportunities and co-funding arrangements. This generated a great deal of interest and as a result the excellent science conducted at Marie Curie Research Institute will continue in prestigious universities across the country. Transfer of the groups will commence in January through to March 2010. Full details of new locations and contact for each group will be posted on the individual web pages under Research Groups.
